The Method for reviewing burgers is inspired by some established organizations and web sites and we have added guidelines for categorizing the burgers.
We have adopted the 5 Star ranking implemented by the Hamblogger. Its simple and effective.
But to capture the essence of a burger in a review we felt we needed the option to include further details and included 5 categories which were inspired by the ranking used in the Sac Burger Battle. The categories are:
Each taster has their own guidelines or practices on what burger to order from the menu in order to review consistently, but this is left to the discretion of the reviewer.
We have defined several categories to apply to the establishment where the burger was created to help provide more information about the burger, but this is only for the data miners. We believe all burgers are reviewed on an even playing field and the $30 burger from a 3 start Michelin restaurant should be reviewed along side the $3 burger from a drive-in.
The categories are as follows:
|Fast Food||Any burger served from an established that has a drive through, a take out window or is a mobile operation falls into the Fast Food category.|
|Restaurant||Any burger served from a dine-in restaurant which does not have a drive through or take out window is in the ‘Restaurant’ category.|
|Fine Dining||Restaurants that use linen tablecloths and napkins are bumped up to the ‘Fine Dining’ category.|
|Private Residence||If the burger is grilled at a home, it falls into the Private Residence category.|
